COVID 19       During this difficult time for us all, we have decided to continue providing Tour Services.    Our vehicles are always regularly serviced and cleaned but we are taking extra precautions during The Corona Virus outbreak.  All the vehicle door handles, seat belts, and other points of contact are being sanitized before, during, and after each tour.  Sanitized wipes will be provided for you in our vehicles.    We understand, and appreciate, that many people will have justifiable reservations about booking a tour and yet want to be able to tour with us on arrival in Ireland so we are making temporary changes to our booking arrangements.  We are only taking a deposit of €75 regardless of the size of the vehicle or the duration of the tour. For bookings made now that subsequently need to cancel because of Corona Virus, we will refund 95% of the deposit provided we receive a minimum of 72 hours notice of cancellation. We will make the refund of 95% to you, or at your discretion hold the full deposit against a future booking.

The beautiful village of Leenane, snugly situated at the head of Killary Harbour, is often aptly described as the 'Gateway to Connemara'. The roads from Maam, Clifden, and Westport meet at this point.  Leenane is a stop on most of our Guided Tours.

Killary Harbour extends ten miles inland and the mountains rising steeply on either side provides what is arguably the best scenery in Ireland. Walkers have access to Mweelrea, Sheefry, Paltry, and Maumturk Mountains. Leenane with its surroundings is a haven for geologists due to a great variety of sedimentary, volcanic, and metamorphic rocks. There is good fishing in the local Erriff and Delphi rivers. Well-known beauty spots include Aasleagh Falls and Doolough Valley, the scene of the tragic famine walk. A film adaptation of John B. Keane's famous play "The Field", directed by Jim Sheridan, was made in Leenane in 1989. Well-known stars taking part included the late Richard Harris, John Hurt, and Tom Berrenger. Visitors can visit many of the locations used as sets in the film.

In more recent years the famous Kelly Family from Germany used Leenane as the setting for a singing album. There is something for everybody with facilities for adventure sports, cruising on Killary, mountain climbing and fishing. These, combined with good accommodation and food, make Leenane an ideal holiday location.

Leenane is situated where the long (16 km), narrow Killary harbor and the broad Inagh Valley almost meet in Connemara, Leenane feels the shade of the Maamturk Mountains at its back as it enjoys some splendid views of the Mweelrea Mountains in County Mayo across the dark blue waters of the harbor. Leenane is also known for its Outdoor Pursuits Centres. "Jim was punctual, kind, knowledgeable, and very perceptive in his ability to know just what would appeal to us as a group. While Jim did the driving, we were able to see fantastic scenery. We went places we never would have found, heard unique stories and had a fabulous day!"

"We have travelled quite a bit and taken many tours. This tour is top notch and Jim is a master tour guide. And yes, we fed gorgeous Connemara ponies and adorable donkeys. It's incredible value, makes a great use of your time and is like hanging out with an old friend."
