Burren Locations

The Michael Cusack Centre is located at the unspoiled village of Carron in the heart of the Burren at one of the highest points in the Burren Mountains and overlooks the largest Turlough (disappearing lake) in Western Europe. The center traces the life and times of the founder of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).

Lisdoonvarna (Irish: Lios Dúin Bhearna, meaning "Enclosure at the Fort by the Gap") is a spa town of about one thousand people. It is believed that the fort referred to in this name is the green earthen fort of Lissateeaun (Fort of the Fairy Hill), which lies 3 km to the north-east of the town, near the remains of a Norman-era castle.

Kinvara is derived from the Gaelic  "Cinn Mhara" which means "Head of the Sea" a name that gives an insight into its history. It has long associations with the sea and its past is recalled in the Annual Festival "Cruinniu na mBad" or "The Gathering of the Boats".

Dunguaire Castle (Irish: Dún Guaire. Dún is the Gaelic for fort and Guaire was the legendary king of Connacht) is a 16th-century tower house on the southeastern shore of Galway Bay in County Galway, Ireland, near Kinvarra.

Doolin Cave is the most recently opened show cave in Ireland and has been awarded the highest possible gold star accolade for its ecological management. The cave was previously known as Pol-an-Ionain but was renamed after the nearest town when it became a show cave.

Doolin is a charming small seaside village on the northwest coast of County Clare. Set against the rugged Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by the spectacular bare limestone landscape of the Burren it is a place of breathtaking beauty. Doolin is situated 8km from the famous cliffs of Moher, and 6km from Lisdoonvarna spa town.

"Awesome" is a word often misused today, but the Cliffs of Moher are truly Awsome! The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's top Visitor attractions. The Cliffs are 214m high at the highest point and range for 8 kilometers over the Atlantic Ocean on the western seaboard of County Clare.

The Burren Smokehouse is an Irish family-run producer of Smoked fish. The company was established in 1989 by Peter and Birgitta Curtin and it is located close to Lisdoonvarna. The Burren Smokehouse started with the smoking and curing of salmon. Later they branched out into mackerel, trout and eel.

The Burren Perfumery was founded 35 years ago at the centre of a quiet valley in the heart of this inspiring area. It is located between Kinvara and Ballyvaughan on the route to the Cliffs of Moher. The limestone plateau of the Burren is famous for its nature, wildness and diversity of plant life.
